Who We Are
Institute of Archaeology and Heritage Studies

The Institute of Archaeology and Heritage Studies (IAHS) is a non-profit academic and research institute founded by archaeology.lk team in 2019. Funded by the esteemed archaeology.lk, the Institute aims to make archaeological and heritage studies accessible to the general public through the Institute’s online courses and thus allow an exploration of the rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka.
Research and Consultancy are the other cornerstones of IAHS and we are open to collaboration with public and private players for all archaeological and heritage site activities.

What We Do
Programs and services

With support from arcaheology.lk – Sri Lanka Archaeology, IAHS intends to nurture scholars, researchers, and educators in the field of archaeology who will be the torchbearers of our mission. The online courses and the research initiatives are some of the means to achieve this end.
This is our first year into the long journey of archaeological research and exploration that lies ahead, and we look forward to a historic journey ahead.

As an archaeologist, I have always felt that there is still a lot more hidden under our land that can give a deeper understanding of our history.
IAHS is an attempt to provide a means to those who want to quench this curiosity about the socio-cultural history of the Island. Through academics and research, we aim to bridge this gap and make archaeological and heritage studies accessible to the general public of Sri Lanka. As a country, one of the best ways to learn and appreciate our cultural diversity is to connect with our history. And the courses at IAHS do precisely this.
